Your healthcare team members who use Missouri Health Connection (MHC) may share your health records with each other for the purpose of treating you, coordinating your care, improving quality or managing the payment for your healthcare.
You have control over health records. You decide if you want to share them with your health care team members through MHC. If you decide not to be part of MHC, your doctors will not be able to see your complete health history, even in an emergency situation.
If you previously chose not to share your health records and you have changed your mind and would now like to allow your health care team to have access and share your health records, please follow the instructions here.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy Rule provides you with health information privacy rights. These include the right to:
- See your health information
- Know who has viewed your health information
- Correct or change your health information
- You can use these rights, ask questions about them, and file a complaint if you think they are being denied or your health information isn’t being protected
If you don’t want your records included in MHC, please visit our opt out page for more information.
